We provide the following services to our community:
911 Response | If
you live in Martinsville or the Washington Valley section of
Bridgewater and you dial 911 for a medical emergency, we will be
dispatched to help you. We always have a duty crew on call ready
to respond to emergencies. We also have members throughout our
area equipped with life-saving equipment who can respond directly to
your home in the case of a life-threatening emergency. Direct
responders can often reach your home within 5 minutes of your 911 call. |
Prearranged, Non-Emergency Transport | If
a resident needs occasional assistance transporting a loved one
between home and an area healthcare facility such as a doctor's office,
rehabilitation center, or nursing home, we may be able to help.
With sufficient advance notice we may be able to get off-duty squad
members to do the transport in one of the squad ambulances. These
non-emergency transports must be scheduled in advance - the more advance
notice you provide, the more likely we will be able to help. We
recommend that you contact us at least 3 days in advance. For
routinely occurring transport needs you should make arrangements with a
paid transport service. |
Home Healthcare Equipment Loan | We
maintain an inventory of equipment for loan to those in need.
Equipment includes wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs and
more. Equipment is loaned out at no cost and is returned to us
when the resident no longer needs it. Call us to check
availability. |
CPR Training | We
regularly schedule community CPR training sessions. We advertise
the training sessions in our annual fund drive mailing in March.
We have certified instructors who teach the American Heart Association's
"CPR for Family and Friends". At least twice a year we hold "BLS
Healthcare Provider" recertification sessions for squad members and
those in the healthcare profession who need professional level
training. |
